Airtel Club 10 Tariff Plan and Call Rates – The Facts

The Airtel Club 10 tariffs and call rates are very competitive. There is so much to gain from the Airtel Club 10 plan, the call rates and tariffs are quite awesome, for example, calls to the 10 registered Airtel numbers costs just 10k per second, calls to all other Airtel lines costs 20k per second. Furthermore, sms rates to the 10 registered numbers cost N1, to other Airtel numbers cost N3 and to all other networks cost N5. Also, at the recharge of up to N200 within a week, you get free 10MB of data for the next 7 days. However, there is a catch to this tariff plan, find out as you read on.

Check out the full details briefly below;

  • Register 10 Airtel numbers to form your Club 10
  • Make calls to those registered 10 numbers at 10k/ sec.
  • Send SMS to your registered numbers at N1/SMS
  • Make free midnight calls 12.30am and 4.30am daily to club members (This is available only after you must have made at least, a minute call with your Airtel line)
  • Call other Airtel numbers apart from your Club 10 registered numbers at 20k/sec.
  • SMS other Airtel numbers at N3/SMS
  • Call MTN, Glo and Etisalat lines at 30k/ sec.
  • SMS other Networks at N5/SMS
  • Call USA, Canada, UK, India and China at 20k/sec after your 1st minute at 60k/sec
  • Free 10MB data valid for 1 week after a recharge of N200 or more within one week.

NOTE: Before you can enjoy any of the call rates above, you must have been charged 60k/second for the first minute call of the day. Therefore, your first call in 24 hours will be charged at 60k/second, after which you can enjoy the reduced call rates as listed above. This makes them almost the same as Etisalat’s EasyLife N25 daily rental but still a “little” different and cheaper because Etisalat’s EasyLife call rate is at a Flat rate of 20k/second to all networks including Etisalat numbers but with the Airtel Club 10, you call your registered numbers for just 10k/second. This is only the only cheap benefit of the Airtel Club 10 over Etisalat’s Easylife. If you look at it critically from what I have explained you will see it.

Don’t be deceived, Etisalat’s Easylife tariff plan and call rates still gives you a better deal than the Airtel Club 10 and that of all other networks. Only the wise and the analytically minded realises this fact.

DSTV Mobile Channels and Bouquet Prices In Nigeria

DSTV Mobile since introduced into the Nigerian market has since drawn a considerable amount of accolades. This innovation makes it possible for anyone to watch selected DSTV channels anywhere in Nigeria at very affordable prices as long as such people are around the DSTV Mobile coverage map. Indeed, DSTV Mobile channels and bouquet prices are really priced to ensure affordability to the consumer as regards to the DVB-H handset user but not really to the Drifta or Walka TV user.

It could be remembered that DSTV Mobile was first introduced Free of Charge in the Nigerian market since early 2010 with about 9 channels. MTN was the first to introduce it on mobile handsets with the DVB-H receiver. Glo and Etisalat introduced theirs around mid-August 2010 and the free service for all networks ended March 2011, after which billing started.

DSTV Mobile can be accessed with the use of DSTV Mobile receiver devices for use on Laptops, Desktops, Tablets, and Smartphones. It can also be assessed with handset that has the DVB-H receiver.

DSTV Mobile Bouquet Channels and Prices

There are 4 DSTV Mobile bouquets to choose from, that is the Free Tier channels which are free of charge, Mini, Maxi and Maxi + bouquets. The Maxi + bouquet is just an addition of the SuperSport 3 channel to the Maxi bouquet and can only be accessed if the subscriber is using a Drifta or Walka TV. This is indeed a strategy to make football lovers purchase the Drifta or Walka TV because important live matches are usually broadcasted only on SuperSport 3.

There are two DSTV Mobile bouquets prices in Nigeria, there’s the one for DVB-H receiver enabled handsets and the other for Drifta devices and Walka TV. The customer with DVB-H handsets can only subscribe on a weekly basis and only on a monthly basis can a customer using the Drifta, Drifta USB or Walka subscribe.

Device/Duration Free Tier Mini Bouquet Maxi Bouquet Maxi+ Bouquet
DVB-H Handsets/Weekly Free N170 N400 Not Available
DVB-H Devices/Monthly Free N680 N1600 N1600 (No additional fee)

Looking at the prices, one can only hope that there would be a downward pricing review because considering the channel offering, I think its actually a rip-off, especially to subscribers using the Drifta and Walka TV. DSTV Mobile could do better by offering additional channels to make it less of a rip-off and more valuable to the subscriber. I guess that would be an issue for another day.

Feel free to drop your comments. I actually love comments. Cheers!

The New MTN Pulse: Get Even Cheaper Call Rates and 10MB Weekly Free Data

I know you guys have heard about the new MTN Pulse with its new exciting call rates and free internet access. With the new MTN Pulse, you can never go wrong. I tried it for some time and men, it’s really awesome as you can register your friends on MTN Pulse and call them for as low as 10kobo per second, i.e. after the first minute at 58kobo per second.

With the new MTN Pulse, you get 10MB of data every week after a total recharge of N100. Any subsequent recharges within the week won’t qualify you for another 10MB of free data until the week runs out. In this regard, I think it’s better than that of Etisalat where you are stuck with the EDGE network which seems to be unreliable especially in Lagos. You can also enjoy the free megabytes of data on your smaller 3G or EDGE phones by way of running your phone’s java apps like 2go messenger, Ebuddy, Opera Mini, and other java apps.

The package also comes with MTN PULSE CHAT which is actually not clear to me because the SMS sent are still charged at the same rate of N5 as with the normal MTN to MTN SMS charge.

Let’s take a look at the MTN Pulse Call and SMS rates at a glance;
